Subaru EJ257 ASF Stock Plus Shortblock

The "stock plus" shortblock had been proven to handle upwards of 420 wheel horsepower on high octane fuel whilst keeping a quiet cold start and minimal oil consumption. The key lies in our individualized painstaking blueprint process. We have determined that EJ series ring land failures can be attributed to a combination of factor that cause abnormal combustion (read hotter than what is acceptable for the materials). This excess heat causes expansion in the upper crown and ring land area, when the rings expand beyond what is dimensionally acceptable, the ring gap makes contact with the adjacent ring gap or "butting" thus cracking the supporting aluminum. 
 We correct this condition through removal of the factory rings & resetting the end gap allowing for more thermal expansion.
